Prince performed at Manchester Academy 1 last night - but the performance failed to sell out, and a second gig announced for later that night failed to take place. Has a cure for Prince Fever finally been discovered?
All but 400 of the tickets for the Manchester show were sold online in advance, and sold out quickly, but the remainder were held back for sale on the door. According to Princevault.com though, only around 250 of these tickets were sold, with everyone who had queued managing to get into the 2,000 capacity venue.

Shortly after the show began, Prince's manager Kiran Sharma tweeted to reveal a second show later that night, but the queue only reached about 100 people.
Still only about 100 people in queue, not even stretching past student union building yet #getondown #princewatch pic.twitter.com/kW7vtoAyc4

Instead of a second gig, those who queued were allowed in for a reduced admission charge of £35 to see Prince and 3RDEYEGIRLS's encore. This change of heart led to confusion and anger from those fans who believed they had paid to see an entire set from the singer.
A lot of confusion. People being moved out of @MancAcademy but people who paid for late show tickets only saw 4 songs of encore...

All is not lost though - the venue have since announced that those fans who purchased tickets for the ill-fated 'second show' will be allowed into tonight's show (22 February) at the same venue for free.
As well as continuing (though perhaps slightly diminishing) hype over Prince's guerilla gigs, rumours are also circulating that Prince has been approached to headline Glastonbury, and that he plans to make two appearances at Hyde Park this summer. There's been no official confirmation of either rumour from Prince himself.
