Arctic Monkeys fans have named the band's debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, their best ever.

In a Gigwise poll, the 2006 record was the favourite by far, with their most recent offering, 2013's AM, coming second. Favourite Worst Nightmare placed third, Suck It + See fourth, whilst Humbug finished in last place.

The poll is now closed, but you can still view it here

Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, was released in 2006 and became somewhat of a phenomenon. Shifting 360,000 copies in its first week, it became the fastest selling album in British music history, and remains the fastest selling debut by a band to this day.

The record featured modern indie classics 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' and 'When The Sun Goes Down', and won that year's Mercury Music Prize. Critics praised frontman Alex Turner's lyricism, with NME hailing him a "master of observation".

Arctic Monkeys recently picked up the 2014 BRIT Award for the Best British Album for their most recent release, AM, but attention was focused on Alex Turner's acceptance speech instead of the award itself. "That rock and roll,eh? That rock and roll, it just won't go away," said Turner during his speech. "It might hibernate from time to time, sink back into the swamp. I think the cyclical nature of the universe in which it exists, demands it adheres to some of its rules."

He later told The Daily Star that his rambling speech was due to his nerves and discomfort at public speaking.
