Organisers of South By South West festival have refused Lady Gaga permission to perform on the festival's Doritos stage at this year's event, after concerns for safety.
The Doritos stage at South by South-West is a rig made up to look like a giant Doritos vending machine. This year Lady Gaga was due to perform there, however concerns were raised over the rather small size of the venue and subsequently its ability to cope with such a high profile performance.
A statement from the city of Austin reads: "We look at the size and capacity of the location covered by the permit being sought and how it fits with the anticipated attendance, based on event capacity and promotion," concluding, "At the end of the day, it’s a parking lot." However Gaga may still appear as a public speaker at the festival.
