It seems Lily Allen was shocked and humbled to win Best Solo Act at the NME Awards 2014 last night (Wednesday 26 February), suggesting that David Bowie or Jake Bugg should have won instead.
The 'Air Balloon' star, who has only released three singles in the last year, beat off strong competition from Bugg, Bowie, Kanye West, Lorde and Paul McCartney to take home the prize at London's Brixton Academy.
Taking to the stage to accept her award, Allen said: "This is kind of dumb because David Bowie was in the same category and Jake Bugg so this goes to you guys, not me."
Allen was also on hand to give an animated and passionate introduction to Blondie before they were presented with the Godlike Genius Award.
