The much-wanted Daft Punk tour is looking more likely than ever, with reports stating that the French duo have recently applied to perform a huge live show in America. Sadly, their application was rejected.

The band applied to perform on land next to The Devils Tower, America's national monument in Crook County, Wyoming. They applied for a 50,000 capacity show (reports Wyoming publication Trib.com), but it was rejected on 31 January 2014 by the National Park Service. They have clearly prioritised conservation over awesomeness in this instance.

"No event is going to be occurring in Devils Tower," said Reed Robinson, the superindendent of Devils Tower National Park, reports Trib.com. "Anything that was proposed is a non-starter, is considered an adverse action according to the National Historic Preservation Act, and goes against the Park Service management approach."

"This being a night skies park and a natural park and a sacred site to 24 different tribes, that would be considered sacrilegious and gets into that 'inappropriate use'," he added. "And that meant maybe we would have to close portions of the main trail to facilitate this kind of stuff."

He also reportedly added that Daft Punk were also looking for other unusual locations across the globe to perform.

Daft Punk made an incredible comeback to the music scene in 2013 with their fourth studio album, Random Access Memories, and fans have been desperate for live shows ever since. They were widely tipped to hit the festival scene in both 2013 and 2014, but as yet, nothing has been announced. Now it seems unlikely that the duo will perform at anything as dreary as a 'festival', and have much grander plans for their live return.

Daft Punk last toured in 2007, with a string of worldwide shows, including an unforgettable performance at Wireless Festival in London's Hyde Park. They performed at the 2014 Grammy Awards with Pharrell Williams and Stevie Wonder. It was very good indeed.
