Lorde sells a million copies of her debut album, Pure Heroine

First female to do so since Adele's 19

New Zealand superstar Lorde has secured her place as one of the biggest new names in music, shifting a million copies of her debut album, Pure Heroine.

Released in October 2013, the singer's album is the first debut by a female singer to achieve such huge sales since Adele's debut album, 19, in 2011. The album includes her huge hit 'Royals' as well as subsequent singles 'Team' and 'Glory & Gore'.

The album has spent 16 non-consecutive weeks on the US Billboard charts, and was a No.1 in the UK when it was released last year.

The singer is set to tour the US later in 2014, and has hinted at plans to bring her live shows to the UK, revealing her hopes at this year's BRIT Awards. Speaking to press after the show, Lorde said she 'should' be back in the UK later this year. She has previously announced a tour in America, but UK fans are eagerly awaiting her live shows.

"I love coming here in general," she said at the O2 Arena. "I should probably book some shows here. I should be back this year to play."
