A rejection letter sent to U2 from a record company in 1979 has surfaced online. Check it out below.

Business Insider posted the letter, sent from RSO Records, which thanks "Mr Hewson" (Bono) for their submission, but tells them it's "not suitable" for them at present. Meanwhile, RSO Records went out of business three decades ago, and U2 have amassed nearly $255 million of record sales since their career launched in 1980 with debut Boy. Ooh, kill 'em.

Meanwhile, U2 are said to be releasing their 13th album in 2014. The LP will be their first since 2009's No Line On The Horizon.

However, U2 frontman Bono recently confessed how he feels U2 are struggling to stay relevant to the public, admitting that the band's music may only resonate with the band themselves.

Speaking to Radio 1's Zane Lowe last month, he discussed the struggle of staying in touch with people through songwriting whilst also maintaining truth to yourself.

"We're on the verge of irrelevance," he told the DJ. "You have to make stuff relevant to you and where you're at, make an honest account of what you're going through. If that's relevant to other people, great."
