Today is International Women's Day. It's a day to celebrate women's political, social and economic achievements, as well as to highlight the remaining inequality that exists between men and women throughout the world. Many musicians have taken to Twitter to voice their support for the global feminist event.
Some simply wished their followers a happy day.
Happy international women's day! To all the wonderful women of the world who deserve equal rights to men. Xxx

And others explained why International Women's Day is still important.
To women all over the planet - you should always be able to be yourself, doo the things that make you happy, and be whatever you want to be.

International Women's Day takes place on 8 March every year, and is backed by the United Nations. The UN theme for this year's IWD is "Equality for Women is Progress for All." Amen.
