Lorde has come under fire from a Jamaican newspaper for saying she dislikes reggae music.
Lorde recently wrote about her dislike of the genre, posting on her blog: "I hate Reggae, Reggae makes me feel like am late for something".
Now, as well as being lambasted by a variety of reggae musicians, a columnist who writes for The Jamaica Star has called the 'Royals' singer a "one hit wonder" and even compared her to the creepy Smeagol (or Gollum, whichever you prefer) from Lord Of the Rings. Zing.
As Holy Moly reports, gossip columnist Keisha has delivered a scathing take-down of poor old Lorde. "International artiste Lorde say she hate reggae music," writes Keisha. "Everybody nuh haffi like everything but HATE is a very strong word. Lorde, you always look like Smeagol from Lord of the Rings.
"You always look like you a have seizure when you deh pon stage a try move you crawny body. If you need fi HATE anything, you need fi HATE you age paper. A nuh our fault say you a 17 and look like 3 million. A nuh our fault say you caan sing live. Gwaan from ya Miss One Hit Wonder." Ouch.
One person who seemingly doesn't have a problem with Lorde's seizure-like dance moves and crawny (repulsive) body is Katy Perry, who, Lorde has revealed, invited her to act as her support on her upcoming PRISM tour. Lorde declined, however, admitting she wishes to stay "independent".
