Metallica have given fans a first look at what their new material will sound like, revealing a new track called 'Lords of Summer'. Listen below.

The track actually sees a return to a more classic Metallica sound. Coming in at around eight minutes in length, it features a grinding riff from Hetfield, along with an epic guitar solo from Hammet, demontstrating the band may finally be going back to what they are best at.

Previewed on the latest leg of Metallica's "By Request" tour in Bogota, Colombia, it is the first new piece of material for close to half a decade. However despite previewing the new track the band have recently said that they are no closer to hitting the recording studio.

”We’ve jammed on certain bits and pieces of music and figured out this piece of music works, this works, this doesn’t,” Hammett told Rolling Stone last month. “But we’re still going through that process. James [Hetfield] has 800 pieces of music. I have 400 pieces of music. Once we figure out what pieces of music are actually gonna work for us, then we’re going to start turning those pieces of music into songs and seeing where that leads us.”
