MIA has asked Madonna for financial help after NFL demanded $16.6m (£9.1m) for showing her middle finger during the Super Bowl half-time show in 2012.
The rapper known for her hit ‘Paper Planes,’ 'flipped the bird' to a crowd of 167 million people as she performed with Madonna and Nicki Minaj during the song ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’. See her tweet to Madonna below.

According to reports the NFL is charging MIA for breaching her performance contract and are demanding $15.1 million in 'restitution' on top of the $1.5 million they were already chasing her for.
They claim the additional $15 million is based on what advertisers would have paid for in ads during her two-minute segment of the performance.

MIA’s spokesperson responded saying “the claim for restitution lacks any basis in law, fact, or logic.”
The Super Bowl has a long history of controversial performances, most notably Janet Jackson’s exposed breast during her performance with Justin Timberlake in 2004.
