Coldplay debuted new material by playing new album Ghost Stories in full at an intimate gig for just 800 fans in Los Angeles on Friday (21 March, 2014).
Performing at Sony Pictures Studios, Chris Martin and co performed to invited guests and fans as they filmed the gig for an upcoming DVD release, reports Rolling Stone.
Opening with Coldplay classics 'Paradise' and 'Clocks', the band then played their new album in full and in order. Rolling Stone describes 'Always In My Head' as being led by 'a dreamy guitar pattern', while the newly premiered 'Ink' is said to feature the lyrics: "All I know is I am lost without your love . . . so much it hurts."
The live debut was also given to 'True Love', which RS report as having 'bright musical colours anchored to a heartbreak beat and a slicing solo from guitarist Jonny Buckland', while the piano led 'Another's Arms' is 'a melancholy love song with chiming guitar as footage of women slowly tumbling underwater filled the screens'.
'Oceans' is reported as being 'understated but sweeping' while 'A Sky Full of Stars' sounds fittingly epic and features the line: "Maybe one day I'll fly next to you."
