Christine McVie has returned to Fleetwood Mac after a long hiatus, however in an interview she revealed that she left largely due to a 'fear of flying'.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, McVie discusses how she left the band due to a suddenly developed phobia, but also a desire to live in England and engage in country life.
She also revealed that she had an epiphany, one day realising: "I've got to go for it. I can’t just sit here in the country rotting away. I have to do something, and something special."
Speaking of why she left the band McVie said: "Initially I developed a great fear of flying. It was a real phobia. I also bought a house in England and decided, to a degree, I was really tired of the road. I wasn't just burned out, but I was tired of traveling and living out of a suitcase. I’m quite a domestic person by nature and the nomad thing had got a bit stale on me, really."

However, McVie decided after her epiphany that she needed to go see a therapist, where she decided that she wanted to fly to Maui to see Mick Fleetwood. It was there that they decided that they wanted to get back together after playing together in Mick's band on the island.
Speaking of a conference call with the rest of the band she said: "I just said with a big capital 'Y', Yes - I’m going to challenge myself and I want to do it more than anything in the world.
"It’s just such a joy. It’s an affirmation of something so magical, there’s just a chemistry between us that’s just phenomenal."
