Rumours that Mumford and Sons have split up have been denied by reprasentatives of the band.
The comments that they had split were made by Winston Marshall who was speaking to Vulture Magazine on Wednesday night (26 March).
At the after party for The National's Mistaken for Strangers documentary film he said: "It's over. We had a good time, though, you know. It was good."
However representatives of the band have told Billboard that it was simply a joke.
Also in rather comedic fashion Marshall also proffessed that the band had murdered banjo music. "I think 'killed' is an understatement," he said. "We murdered it. We let it, yeah — fuck the banjo. I fucking hate the banjo."

This follows on from Marcus Mumford reffering to Winston Marshall's side project as "rubbish". Telling the radio station: "Winston went to Nashville and set up a band, played six gigs, recorded a live show and then they broke up, citing artistic differences at the end of the night, after playing six gigs in one night," said Marcus. "Apparently they were rubbish, apparently they were genuinely rubbish. But they're really proud of it, because they love that kind of thing."
