There's a new festival on the horizon called Orchestival, aimed at fusing classical and contemporary music. It's going to be brilliant.

Taking place on the 19-20 July, at the Bath and West Showground, Orchestival is putting together one hell of a line up for its inaugural year. Squarepusher, The Unthanks, Will Gregory (Goldfrapp) and the Philharmonia Orchestra and many more will be taking to the stage in order to perform a variety of compositions designed to blur the lines between old and new.

Critically acclaimed composer Charles Hazlewood has founded the festival, claiming that he wanted to bring together a broad range of material in the countryside.

"Music is the most universal language we have, it lifts us up and it unites us," he said. "Given the horrendous experiences of so many in the Somerset community with the recent flooding, I see Orchestival as a wonderful piece of good news, a weekend of jaw-dropping music to bind us all together."

"I'm thrilled to welcome the Philharmonia Orchestra along with Squarepusher, The Unthanks, Kneehigh, the Paraorchestra, all the workshops and talks plus the amazing food! In my mind there is no other festival with this breadth of music, bring on July!"
