Punk legend discusses having a musical family

Brody Dalle has suggested that she'd rather her daughter grew up to be a 'lesbian soccer player' than a musician.

In a candid interview with Gigwise, Dalle opened up about how music relates to the rest of her family and - stating that music isn't a life that she would ever force upon her children, instead it is something that she is allowing them to become accustomed to naturally.

"My daughter, she's eight so she's aware of certain things from other kids at school," said Dalle of her family life with husband and Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme. "They talk about fun things, eight year-olds - but they don't really know what they're talking about yet, and as far as music goes she doesn't really ask to listen to anything.

"We give her a doo-wop CD, like The Monotones and stuff, she's really satisfied with that. But I'm waiting for the shoe to drop and for her to ask me to listen to something awful. Maybe it won't I have high hopes."

She added: "Our little guy has a drum kit and he plays the drums. Our daughter plays really well too but it's not something we really want to encourage. We'd rather her be a lesbian soccer player or something, or veternarian".

To support the release of Diploid on April 28, Dalle will be touring the UK. For more information visit Gigwise gig tickets.
