Deadmau5 vs Disney: corporation to investigate DJ's mouse trademark bid

It seems Disney isn't happy about Deadmau5's attempt to trademark his famous mouse logo, as it bears a little too much of a resemblance to a certain cartoon character.

The mass media corporation has announced they are investigating the EDM DJ's trademark registration of his mouse emblem, which has been made famous by the large bobblehead Deadmau5 wears during his live sets and public appearances.

In 2013, Deadmau5, real name Joel Zimmerman, filed to trademark the charicature, the registration of which will cover electrical and scientific apparatus, BMX bikes, paper goods, leather goods, toys and sporting goods, coffee, light beverages and entertainment services.

Unfortunately, the logo Zimmerman wishes to trademark bears more than a passing resemblance to one of Disney's most prominent creations, a certain Mickey Mouse - and it hasn't gone unnoticed.

The Walt Disney Company have now been granted 90 days to investigate the registration and file a notice of oppposition. Considering it's one of the largest media conglomerates in the world, we have a feeling this is one battle the famously outspoken Zimmerman won't be able to win.
