Eminem has revealed that he came close to writing a rap attacking fellow musicians Kanye West and Lil Wayne, after their success made him feel insecure.

The rapper was being interviewed on Los Angeles radio station Power 106 when he discussed the period between his Encore and Relapse albums.

"For that time period when I was away, I was watching what was going on in the game." Eminem said. "Anything that was hot at that moment, anybody that was really killing shit, I felt so bad about myself and the music that I was creating, I felt I was starting to turn into a hater."

He added: "Singling Kanye and Wayne out at that time period, they were the ones killing it the most to me and it hurt. I'd pop a CD in and be like 'Fuck man, I'm not doing this no more."

The rapper went on to admit that he considered writing a track "dissing everybody", but decided against it, as doing so would be "career suicide."

After a five year break, Eminem released his sixth studio album Relapse in 2009, and it was met with mixed reviews. In subsequent single 'Not Afraid', Eminem rapped, "In fact, let's be honest, that last Relapse CD was 'eh', perhaps I ran them accents into the ground. Relax, I ain't going back to that now."

"There were times when it didn't feel good to be me," explained Eminem. "I think deep down I just wasn't happy with myself, you know? There were some really dark moments in there."

Eminem's eighth studio album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 was released last year to positive reviews, and the album's fourth single 'Monster' reached No.1 in both the US and the UK.
