Mastodon have revealed that their new album, the band's first since 2011, is to be released this year, and will be called Once More Round The Sun.
The album is set to be released through Warner Bros. Records and was produced by Nick Raskulinecz, famous for working with Deftones, Rush and Alice In Chains.
The metal band's most recent album was The Hunter in 2011, which was met with highly positive reviews from critics, who praised the band's increasing accessibility.

According to lead singer Troy Sanders in an interview with Paste, Once More Round The Sun comprises "pure, authentic Mastodon." He added: "A lot of people ask us if it kicks off where The Hunter left off. And to a large degree, I suppose yes. We recorded it and took it on the road with us, and then we headed back to our rehearsal space and started working out ideas.
"I've had a lot of time to ingest this record, and it's solid. It's a large slab of granite. I'm once again completely proud of these guys."
The band also revealed that 30 minutes of music hadn't made it to the album, and will instead be released subsequently as an EP.
Mastodon embark on a US tour at the end of this month, but they'll also be hitting the UK festival circuit, with appearances at Bonnaroo and Sonisphere lined up. For more information, visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.
