Jermain Jackman was crowned the winner of the third series of BBC One's The Voice UK last night (5 April), beating fellow finalists Christina Marie, Sally Barker and Jamie Johnson.
The Hackney-based singer, who is also an active member of the Labour Party, won over voters with performances of 'Wrecking Ball', 'Pure Imagination', and 'And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going'. Clearly, his repetition of the refrain "And you, and you, and you, you're gonna love me" in his final song was taken seriously by the show's viewers.
Reactions to the results were mixed however. Some, of course, were thrilled Jackman clinched the title.
A well deserved win to Jermain on The Voice. Inspirational, we need more like him instead of one's who crave celebrity without hard work!

I think I might just be in love with Jermain. Wow, the right person Actualllly won The Voice this year, and Ricky Wilson got hot. Happy.

Whilst others were less pleased, with many surprised the hotly-tipped Christina Marie did not win the series.
How on earth did Jermain win #thevoice?! Dont think we'll be hearing much of him.

And Jermain winning The Voice? Wtf??? He was average at best!
— Alex (@AlexLumley) April 5, 2014
Jermain is a nice guy but I thought Christina Marie should have taken the voice tonight
— TheMistress (@WintersAutumn) April 5, 2014
Just caught up with #TheVoice ... Christina Marie should have won, Jermain is great but often loses control of his pitch 👎 shame!

@BBCTheVoiceUK @JermainJackman what the fuck....he is absolute rubbish, total joke of a decision
— Andrew (@RedMariner64) April 5, 2014
Some were undecided, or just unconvinced, given the fairly miniscule impact the show's previous two winners have made, that winning The Voice is all it's cracked up to be.
So the voice is over and young jermain is quite clearly a lovely lad and good luck to him. But overall best of a poor bunch singing wise.

I am happy for Jermain Jackman. However...I think winning The Voice might be a poisoned chalice. Hope those around him prove me wrong.

If Jermain is as unsuccessful as the previous 2 winners of The Voice there won't be any point in doing another series.

On top of this, many celebrities took to Twitter to congratulate Jackman, including several Labour politicians desperate to maximise the good publicity of a young, cool Labour supporter.
Congrats @JermainJackman on winning @BBCTheVoiceUK. The best solo artist ever to win a TV talent show. Well done @iamwill. Great Mentor

Cheryl Cole there, whose ill-fated phone call to will.i.am during the show demonstrated just how pointless that weird watch/phone is that Will won't stop flashing.
