Muse frontman Matt Bellamy battled with illness to play the first Muse gig of 2014 at Lollapalooza in Brazil this weekend (Saturday 5 April) - performing to a crowd of over 80,000 people. See footage and photos from the gig below.
The Devonshire trio, who had to cancel a gig in the country earlier in the week due to 'illness', played an epic and career-spanning set - while also hinting at a much-rumoured 20th anniversary tour by playing b-sides from the Showbiz era, 'Agitated' and 'Yes Please'.
At the end of 'Yes Please', Bellamy tossed his guitar into the air and the band left the stage in a raucous fashion. Despite Bellamy's vocals seeming strained at time, he still pulled off an impressive performance under the circumstances.
They also paid tribute to Kurt Cobain by covering 'Lithium' by Nirvana, and the Muse classic 'Muscle Museum' is reported to have been on their setlist, but replaced by 'Yes Please' - potentially due to the extra strain it may have put on Bellamy's vocals.
Introducing their cover of 'Lithium' by Nirvana, frontman Matt Bellamy said: "Sorry, I've lost my voice. We've been together for 20 years, someone great died 20 years ago - this next song is for Kurt Cobain."
