The long-awaited European premiere of the new documentary about Pulp has been announced - fittingly taking place in the indie legends' hometown of Sheffield.

'PULP: A Film About Life, Death And Supermarkets' was premiered to rave reviews at SXSW in Texas last month, and will now see its debut on UK shores. The Florian Habicht directed film documents the band's last Sheffield show in December 2012.

"By turns funny, moving, life-affirming and (occasionally) bewildering, PULP is a music-film like no other," reads an official statement. "Florian Habicht unveils the deep affection that the inhabitants of Sheffield have for Pulp, and the formative effect the town has had on the band’s music (and front-man Jarvis Cocker’s lyrics in particular)."

The film will be premiered on Saturday 7 June at Sheffied City Hall to open the 21st Sheffield Doc/Fest. The premiere will be attended by the director Florian Habicht, producer Alex Boden of Pistachio Pictures Production and band-members Jarvis Cocker, Nick Banks, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey and Mark Webber.

But don't fear if you're unable to make it up North, as Sheffield Doc/Fest will be broadcasting live to cinemas nationwide including VUE, Odeon, Cineworld, Picturehouse and Curzon chains.
