Midlands rapper FTSE is fast-becoming one of the most exciting young talents on the UK urban scene, and his new track 'Utopia' is a brilliant take on the consumerism obsessed society we live in. Listen to 'Utopia' first on Gigwise below.
A beautiful and brave discussion of the Nike-wearing, Apple-swiping culture of today, 'Utopia' is a stark slice of modern poetry, one which mixes insightful lyrics with a controlled sense of aggression and rebellion. The track has been billed as 'a protest song for Generation Z', and its a description that really hits the mark, as FTSE attempts to make sense of our deteriorating society and complete lack of concern for what's going on around us.
The production on the 'Utopia' is also equally impressive, with a melancholy piano blending seamlessly with hip hop beats and distorted vocal samples.

FTSE is the project of Sam Manville, and has already picked up praise from key UK tastemakers such as The Line Of Best Fit, Zane Lowe and Huw Stephens.
'Utopia' is taken from his upcoming third EP, Love Un LTD, which will be released on 12" vinyl and download on 21 April 2014.
