Lady Gaga has thanked Lily Allen for defending her reportedly low ARTPOP album sales, calling the 'Our Time' singer's comments "very sweet".
Allen had previously praised Gaga for "being true to herself" and even dubbed her a "martyr" in the wake of negative reactions to Gaga's ARTPOP album campaign, which has been crippled by reports of low album sales.
"If she's not succeeding commercially because she's standing by what she does as art, then that's a f**king great thing," Allen told Rolling Stone earlier this month. "That’s to be commended."
Now, Gaga has responded to Allen's praise, describing her comments as "admirable" and even claiming to be a "big fan" of the London singer. Speaking to Radio 1 on April 15, Gaga said: "That's very sweet, I've always been a very big fan of hers and I appreciate her standing up for artists and for me in particular, that's really admirable for her to do that.
"I think all artists should stand by one another. When it becomes a competition then we're not supporting creativity and art, but when you support one another wholeheartedly then you're supporting everyone and anything to make what they love.
"I thought that was very sweet, so thank you Lily, you're lovely."
Gaga recently unveiled the video to latest ARTPOP single 'G.U.Y'. Meanwhile, Allen prepares to release comeback album Sheezus, which is due for release May 5.
