Prince has confirmed plans for a new album, as well as an anniversary reissue of Purple Rain, following a new deal with Warner Bros. Records.
The singer recently signed a new global licensing deal with the record company, and has released a press release discussing his upcoming plans, revealing that fans will soon see "the release of long-awaited, previously unheard music."
"A brand-new studio album is on the way," said the release, "and both Warner Bros. Records and Eye are quite pleased with the results of the negotiations and look forward to a fruitful working relationship." And no, Prince hasn't forgotten how to spell the word "I", he's referring to his new band 3RDEYEGIRL.

The announcement comes two months before the 30th anniversary of his iconic 1984 album Purple Rain, and the singer is also planning a digitally re-mastered deluxe version of the LP to mark the occasion.
Prince recently toured the UK with his new band, performing a series of guerilla gigs in surprise venues, often announcing the performances days, or even hours, beforehand.
According to the press release, other planned projects will also be announced shortly.
