Coldplay have been named as the first headliner at this Radio 1's Big Weekend 2014, which this year takes place in Glasgow.
The band, who have recently announced new album Ghost Stories and a one-off London date at the Royal Albert Hall, will headline the free event on 24 May. Coldplay announced their appearance during an appearance on Radio One today (23 April 2014). Other artists confirmed to perform at the show include Paolo Nutini, The 1975, Pharrell Williams and Rita Ora - and there are still plenty more names to come.
The band recently revealed an incredible Giorgio Moroder remix of their current single 'Midnight', which is one of the most impressive Coldplay releases in recent memory, but we somehow doubt they will perform Moroder's version at the Glasgow event. More's the pity. Listen to the track below.
