Manic Street Preachers have spoken out about the delay in the release of information about their hotly-anticipated new album Futurology, after new material from the band leaked this week.
The Welsh indie stars, who have just completed a critically-acclaimed UK tour to roadtest new songs, were expected to announce details of the album imminently - but have been forced to postpone after new tracks appeared online against their wishes.
Now, the band have taken to their official Facebook page to issue a statement. In true and brilliant Manics fashion, it begins with a quote from German artist Anselm Kiefer: "Ruins, for me, are the beginning. With the debris, you can construct new ideas."
The band said:
"This week, new Manic Street Preachers music became available online via legal and illegal download stores.
"As many have gathered, this wasn’t the launch we had in mind for a campaign that we're all incredibly excited about. Originally, the plan had been to issue information on 'Walk Me To The Bridge' and the album 'Futurology' at the start of this week.
"That date moved due to the album release going back a fortnight – unfortunately several online retailers didn't manage to take the track off their schedules. This has caused horrendous problems for us and a lot of confusion for you.
"Full details of the album will be released on Monday 28th April along with Kieran Evans’ video for 'Walk Me To The Bridge'. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
