London Grammar have opened up about how humbled they are to be nominated for an Ivor Novello, especially as they only played their first live gig together just over a year ago.
The trio, all from London but who met while studying at Nottingham University, rose to fame last year when their track 'Hey Now' spread across the internet and attracted the attention of bloggers across the globe. Since then, they've scored a No.2 album, toured the world, been nominated for a BRIT Award, and will headline a number of festivals this summer.
Speaking to Gigwise at the Ivor Novello nominations announcement, the band discussed their whirlwind 12 months.
"It's been an amazing year," said guitarist Dan Rothman. "And that's what people forget - it has literally been a year since we played our first live show."
However, singer Hannah Reid adds that they're far from superstars just yet. "We never get recognised," she laughed. "Well, Dot gets recognised as Harry Styles and Dan gets Nick Jonas, which is really weird."

Speaking about the current climate for new bands, Hannah continued: "I did actually watch an interview with Pharrell recently where he said 'this is a new time in music where you can be yourself. I think it went through a bit of a funny period for a few years, but now I think it is coming back to artists having slightly more control again and I think you can be who you want to be."
The Ivor Novellos celebrate the best in music songwriting, as well the most successful tracks of the past year. The nominations were announced at an event in Central London, and the winners will be revealed at a ceremony on 22 May 2014 at London's Grosvenor House.
