It's a dreary day when Nick Mulvey arrives at East London's Vibe Bar with guitar in hand and tiny amp wheeling behind him in a small suitcase. The previous night he performed an intimate gig at a fan's house for 100 people and he is slightly bleary eyed as the rain beats on the windows before he plays for us. 'Nitrous' is the only kind of song that he is in the mood for playing, he tells us.
Mashed up with Olive's chart-topping classic 'You're Not Alone', Mulvey's cover takes a different spin on the already-sombre 90's dance track. "It's a song that I've always loved," he tells us. "When I realised that it worked perfectly with the song I was writing I thought i'd make a combination.
"I was interested to see what would happen when you combined the two. So it's a homage to those guys."
