Lorde has posted the full name and facebook profile of a paparazzi photographer who she claims has been stalking her, saying: "I am scared of him."

In a series of tweets, the singer strongly criticised the photographer, who is named Simon Runting, for stalking her, photographing her and "systematically subjecting me to extreme fear."

She also posted a photo of Runting, as well as a link to his Facebook page and a picture he took of Rihanna through the window of her private hotel.

The singer continued, "This should not be an accepted standard for young women or anyone in this industry. I refuse to stay complicit and I refuse to stay passive about men systematically subjecting me to extreme fear."

She added: "I understand that this comes with the territory. I do not understand why I should be complacent."

The 17 year old New Zealand singer rose to fame last year with the worldwide success of single 'Royals', and the subsequent release of her debut album Pure Heroine.

Since then, Lorde has been the subject of intense tabloid and public scrutiny, and has spoken of her negative experiences with fame in an interview with The Sunday Times published today (4 May.)

"I started finding all these guys - they're usually men - who wait outside your hotel and bring glossy photos of you and want you to sign them, then they sell them on eBay."

She was also the victim of a recent Twitter storm after pictures were posted of her on the beach with boyfriend James Lowe. Lorde's mother Sonja Yelich told The Times, "A lot of people were making racist remarks. But that's a reflection of them more than anything."

Lorde recently announced a one-off UK show at the O2 Academy Brixton, tickets for which have since sold out. For more information visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.
