The Great Escape 2014 kicks off today in not-so-sunny Brighton, with performances from the likes of Albert Hammond Jr, Chloe Howl, Woman's Hour and many more.
The seaside festival is one of the UK's biggest and best new music events, and this year's line-up is hugely impressive, reflective of both the festival itself - and the state of new music in 2014. Former Strokes star Albert Hammond Jr and Little Dragon are perhaps the biggest names on the Thursday line-up, but rising stars such as Chloe Howl, Gorgon City, MNEK, Hozier, Phoria, Raglans, Drowners, are likely to give them a run for their money. However, festival goers headed to the coast today will want to pack their waterproofs, as the weather forecast for today in Brighton is typically British. Brighton will experience rain throughout the day, which forecasters are warning will, at times, be very heavy. The evening, however, is likely to see the rain clear and dry weather set in.
The Great Escape Festival runs until Saturday 10 May 2014. Gigwise will be hosting a stage at the event On Friday, 9 May 2014 at Above Audio. Come down, lets get a beer.
