As far as artists to get excited about in 2014, Hozier is one of the most promising. An Irish singer/songwriter who fuses blues, soul and elements of rock into some truly epic tracks, he is currently on whirlwind tour of the globe playing showcase shows. After critical praise for these shows and with a debut album due later this year, big things are on the horizon.

We caught up with the rising star at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, for an exclusive performance of his track, 'Cherry Wine', an exploration of the darker and more violent side of love. Inspired by a Carole King-penned song, The Crystals track 'He Hit Me (And It Felt Like a Kiss)', the song uses vivid imagery and against melancholic guitar work to deliver a powerful message.
