Fresh from supporting Brody Dalle her recent whirlwind trip to the UK, The Beaches managed to leave one hell of a mark with fans of the former Distillers frontwoman - and anyone else who caught their riotous live shows. Named after the beautiful area of Toronto where they hail from, the four-piece are all about attitude, catchy riffs and noisy rock and roll.
We caught up with the band for a stripped back rendition of their track 'Four Words' at Brick Lane's Pavillion, where the band explained the track is about a one sided break up and "overcoming the guilt and sadness" felt in that situation. Stripped back, and led by piano melodies and the group's tight harmonies, their session displays a more raw and vulnerable side to the band and shows beautifully how the dynamic within the group works.
