More about:

Following his admission that he had nearly died from a severe addiction to alcohol, Deryck Whibley has been pictured for the first time since his hospitalisation looking incredible frail.

Photographed on a walk in Los Angeles with his fiancee and a friend, who were holding his hands in support, the Sum 41 frontman looked incredibly thin and ill.

On May 16, Whibley frankly discussed the extent of his alcoholism in a blog post, telling how doctors have told him that if he has one more drink, he'll die. He then warned fans to "always drink responsibly" before speaking of his desire to get back to writing and performing music.

Whibley's ex-wife Avril Lavigne spoke out in support of Whibley on Twitter, saying she is "so proud" of him. "He is family to me and always will be," Lavigne wrote.
