Lana Del Rey has hit back at a recent interview published by The Guardian, the one that made waves after leading with the headline 'I Wish I Was Dead'.
In the interview, Del Rey discussed her own personal struggles in the interview, saying: "I wish I was dead already" when discussing how a lot of her heroes - Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain - died young.
She continued: "I don't want to have to keep doing this. But I am... That's just how I feel. If it wasn't that way, then I wouldn't say it. I would be scared if I knew [death] was coming, but..."
Now, Del Rey has slammed the interview in a series of Tweets that have since been deleted, reports Idolator. It is worth noting however, that she confuses Guardian writer Alexis Petridis with fellow writer Tim Jonze, who actually conducted the interview and wrote the piece.
Del Rey tweeted:
"i regret trusting the guardian- i didn't want to do an interview but the journalist was persistent. Alexis was masked as a fan" — Lana Del Rey (@LanaDelRey) June 19, 2014
"but was hiding sinister ambitions and angles Maybe he's actually the boring one looking for something interesting to write about." — Lana Del Rey (@LanaDelRey) June 19, 2014
"His leading questions about death and persona were calculated" — Lana Del Rey (@LanaDelRey) June 19, 2014
Tim Jonze later responded to the backlash by Tweeting:Lana Del Rey fans are worse than Morrissey fans when it comes to getting annoyed at things their favourite musician has actually said

Err well yes RT @LanaBoards: - @timjonze Whether she said it or not, interviewers are always controlling the conversation.”
