Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has hinted for the first time that the band will return in 2015.

Armstrong decided to post on Instragram shortly before embarking on a DIY project. "I'm in a hardware store in queens. and this is on my mind. #greenday15 #thefutureisnow #greendayforever"

This would be the followup to the band's trio of albums ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! released in 2012. Their last UK gig was the colossal 99 Revolutions Tour in 2013 that included a record breaking 60,000 tickets sold at the Emirates stadium.

2014 has been quieter for the band bar an appearance at South By Southwest as Foxboro Hot Tubs and the release of 'Demolicious' a compilation of rarities issued for Record Store Day.
