More about: PJ Harvey
The live recording of PJ Harvey's ninth studio release has begun today at London's Somerset House.
Recording the new record via a gallery installation entitled 'Recording In Progress', the process is now available for the whole public to see over the next four weeks. The project takes place in the recently opened New Wing which has been transformed into a recording studio with one-way glass.
Visitors have been warned that they could see anything from a guitar being tuned to a drum kit being carried in but moments of magic are bound to occur at some stage.
Speaking of the one-of-a-kind experience, Harvey said: "I want Recording In Progress to operate as if we're an exhibition in a gallery. I hope visitors will be able to eperience the flow and energy of the recording process."
The album, which will be produced by Harvey's long-time collaborators Flood and John Parish, will be the singer's first since 2011's 'Let England Shake' which won the Mercury Music Prize.
Tickets to Recording In Progress cost £15 and are available on the Somerset House website.
