Kasabian's Sergio Pizzorno has claimed that they are victims of a 'conspiracy' regarding their lack of BRIT Awards nominations.
Given that the band released a number one album 48:13 and also headlined Glastonbury to rave reviews, it is surprising not to see them nominated in a single category.
Announcing that the band would be playing the Bafta Awards following their Brits snub, Pizzorno told the Independent. "It's a conspiracy. They're trying to shut rock n' roll out of [the Brits]. What sort of message does that send to working class rock n' roll bands which the industry is in dire need of?"
He also felt that the band were not being recognised for their remarkable 2014. "Kasabian couldn't have done any more last year. It's bulls*** really. It's way more exciting to be playing the Baftas than the Brits."
Pizzorno also explained his thoughts on following in Tinie Tempah's footsteps and being a musical act playing to black tie clad audience at the Baftas: "It's a huge honour to open the Baftas because we're all such great film fans. It'll be a strange old show playing in front of a load of penguins, but it's going to be great.
"We're going to start the night off with a huge explosion. We're going to play everything twice as loud. Half the people there won't have a clue what is going on."
Kasabian's previous arena tour included five sold out nights at London's Brixton Academy. They announced before Christmas that they plan to play even bigger venues in 2015. "That's the next step: Wembley and Murrayfield, and then beyond. It's stadium time. It has to be."
Kasabian are expected to return to the road in the UK for string of festival dates in 2015, with the band currently rumoured for the likes of Reading and Leeds.
