Foo Fighters are the first headline act announced for Glastonbury 2015.
Front man Dave Grohl announced the news at last night's NME Awards, after receiving the award for Best International Band supported by Austin, Texas – The Live Music Capital Of The World® at the NME Awards 2015 with Austin, Texas (just rolls off the toungue doesn't it?).
The award was presented by Chrissie Hynde, with Dave Grohl unable to attend the show, but sending the following message:
"Thank you Chrissie for presenting this award to us," he told the audience. "This is amazing, we love you very much, but we also love all of the fans for voting for our band for this award. We're very thankful and very happy - sorry we couldn't make it tonight, but we will be seeing you over the summer at some big outdoor festival that nobody knows we're playing. It's Glastonbury! So we'll see you at Glastonbury - thanks a lot everybody!"
As ever the reaction has proved fairly mixed with audiences, although overall the consensus is positive.

Haven't been to #Glastonbury since 1997. If @foofighters play, maybe 2015 is the year for the great return! @chuckstar76 #midlifecrisis

Meanwhile the rumour mill concerning who else will headline continues to roll on. With Queen and Fleetwood Mac out of the picture, various dubious tabloid sources are pointing towards Adele and Florence and the Machine.
