More about: Florence and the MachineCourtney BarnettFather John Misty
Coldplay will not headline Glastonbury in 2015 and neither will Florence and the Machine, Emily Eavis has confirmed.
In an interview with eFestivals, Emily Eavis has explained that the widely rumoured tip headline spot by Chris Martin and co. is not going to happen this summer.
"It's not Coldplay, this is the first year that most of the rumours are wrong," she said. "Normally, there's someone in there who's right, this has been our best year for secrets. Once we got Foos out the way, the rest are secret, it's great that it's like that, isn't it?"
Eavis also revealed that Florence + The Machine won't be headlining (but obviously that doesn't mean she won't be on the bill). Discussing the need to support emerging talent, Eavis explained how a band might rise to the thanks.
"Florence, she started on the smaller stage, and now she's worthy of the headliner slot," said Eavis. "I think she's great, I can't give anything away. She's not going to be headlining, but she could be."
Eavis also announced that both the affable Australian singer songwriter Courtney Barnett and debonair canyon rocker Father John Misty will be hopefully be playing Glastonbury this year.
So far the only confirmed headliner for the festival is Foo Fighters, who will play the Pyramid Stage on Worthy Farm. Lionel Richie has also been confirmed (as has the Dalai Lama), whilst other rumours include Queen + Adam Lambert, Taylor Swift, Elton John, The Libertines, Noel Gallagher, Prince and many more.
Glastonbury Festival 2015 takes place at Worthy Farm in Somerset from 24 - 28 June 2015.
