Annie Mac kicked off her new show in the coveted 7pm slot on BBC Radio One last night, the first since Zane Lowe left the show - and her inaugural song was Wolf Alice's 'Giant Peach'. Listen in full below.
Mac opened the show with the latest single from the London band, before playing music from Fono, Kanye West, Slaves, and Courtney Barnett. Her first Hottest Record was Mumford & Sons' new track, 'Believe', which she played twice.
Lowe ended his tenure at Radio One on Thursday (5 March), bowing out with Queens Of The Stone Age's 'A Song For The Dead'. On his final day, the hashtag #thankszane trended on Twitter, as artists such as Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro, Chvrches and Foals thanks him for helping champion their careers.
Speaking to The Independent ahead of last night's show, Mac said, "Zane is one of the best music broadcasters in the world. I learnt so much from him... The main thing I'm going to bring to it is to just be me, which will automatically be different from Zane. I'm proud to be the first woman to do this slot solo."
