Def Jam have confirmed that Kanye West's laptop has not been stolen, following reports online and even a Twitter account.
Earlier today (11 March) a Twitter account purportedly claiming to belong to the thief who had stolen West's laptop in Paris started posting updates about future projects, collaborations. The Twitter account @kanyelaptop began reaching out to collaborators of West including Malik Yusef and Virgil Abloh about ideas including Nike collaboration. They even threaten to leak a song called 'YZ 2.0' once reached 100,000 Twitter followers and quoted lyrics including “My old self was more amber, I liked them bald both ways / They started kimye, I still don’t fuck with the Bush ways.”
The fact that West's new track Awesome leaked on the same day seemed to confirm the robbery. The rumour was given credence by West's collaborator Yusef tweeted: We have the PRIVATE INVESTIGATION FIRMS ON TOP OF @kanyewest STOLEN LAPTOP!!!!!

However Spin spoke to Def Jam who announced there is "No truth to this rumor" and then followed up with the following statement from vice president Gabriel Tesoriero. "The stories circulating that Kanye West's laptop has been stolen are completely false. His laptop has never been out of his possession. Hence, the laptop has not been hacked, and there has been no leak of personal data such as unreleased music, photographs, designs, videos or any other personal files. The leak today of the unreleased track "Awesome" was unrelated and completely coincidental."
As previously reported West's new track 'Awesome' leaked online today. As you may have guessed from the title, the robotic ballad is a loving list of reasons why his wife Kim Kardashian is 'awesome'. Other key lyrics include the reassurance that "You don’t need to listen to your manager” and “You’re so freaking tight / I know you must be tired of running through my mind / Can I come inside.”

The track was first played at the Met Ball last year and was aired during an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. It has yet been confirmed for his new album, So Help Me God - due for release later this year.
