Jay Z has just added Taylor Swift's catalogue to his music streaming service, TIDAL.
With Swift's entire back catalogue still unavailable to stream on Spotify, Shaun Carter has managed to bag himself something of a coup by bringing Swift onto his own streaming service.
TIDAL is available for a free seven-day trial, before demanding a £19.99 monthly subscription fee (in comparison with Spotify's £9.99). However even paid members are still unable to stream 1989, which remains only availablen to purchase on Google and iTunes.
When first asked about the decision to remove the music from streaming services, Swift told Yahoo Music: "If I had streamed the new album, it’s impossible to try to speculate what would have happened. But all I can say is that music is changing so quickly, and the landscape of the music industry itself is changing so quickly, that everything new, like Spotify, all feels to me a bit like a grand experiment. And I’m not willing to contribute my life’s work to an experiment that I don’t feel fairly compensates the writers, producers, artists, and creators of this music. And I just don’t agree with perpetuating the perception that music has no value and should be free."
In other news, Swift recently hit the headlines for reportedly purchasing the web URL '.porn' in a bid to stop trolls from setting up pornographic sites in her name.
