Johnny Marr has been writing a screenplay and is a third of the way through completing his autobiography, he told BBC 6Music.
Marr remained tacit on the subject of the big screen, only commenting "I'm doing a movie" and that he had "an idea for a screenplay", but was keen to talk about his upcoming autobiography, asserting that he wasn't using a ghostwriter.
The book, which will follow his entire career from the formation of The Smiths to the present day, will be published in autumn of 2016. It follows the 2013 autobiography of Smiths frontman Morrissey, which was published in its first edition under Penguin's Classics imprint alongside the likes of Dickens and Shakespeare.
Marr told BBC 6Music: "I've enjoyed it. It's a lot of work - you've got to mind out you don’t freeze and lose your own voice. I wanted it to be my own voice. So I'm writing it, I'm not using a ghostwriter or a journalist or anything like that. I'm just relying on a really good memory.
"I want for people who like what I do, for the life story to match up with the music...I want it to be really authentic. My life story's been really unusual. Coming from a working class family to staying up late with Keith Richards… How the hell did that happen?"
Johnny Marr's as-yet untitled autobiography will be published by Century next year. He released his second solo album, Playland, last year.
