Black Sabbath have cancelled their forthcoming 'farewell' show in Japan.
Sharon Osbourne had previously announced the news of the final show in a promotional video for the Makuhari Messe, Japan leg of the annual Ozzfest tour. She appeared in the visual stating: "This will be Black Sabbath's farewell'.
Due to take place on 22nd November, the understated gig seemed like a strange place for the band's final performance, which leads many to think it was probably be their final gig in Japan, not their final gig ever.
A statement from the band says: "Despite previous reports, Black Sabbath will not appear on this year’s Ozzfest Japan, the show will instead feature the festival’s namesake, Ozzy Osbourne (and friends)."
Ozzy Osbourne confirmed the end of Black Sabbath late last year, stating that he will be returning to solo material. The rock veteran told Billboard that whatever the band does now will be "our last hurrah...then it's no more Sabbath at all. We're disbanding the name and everything. They don't want to tour anymore. I get it. But I love it. I'm gonna continue my solo thing".
Black Sabbath will release their final album in 2015 with further details yet to be announced.
