The Rolling Stones have denied rumours that they will headline Glastonbury next year, with sources predicting it would be their final show before retiring for good.
The band have spoken about returning to the live stage recently with Ronnie Wood mentioning that fans should keep an eye out in late 2012 for gigs. Reports today (June 18) suggested that the band would cap a near year on the road with a show on Glastonbury's famous Pyramid Stage.
However, when contacted by The Guardian, a spokesperson for the band has denied the rumours stating that the band will not perform at Glastonbury 2013.
Additionally, a Glastonbury spokesperson claimed: "Everybody in the year off thinks they've come up with the perfect Glastonbury lineup. But at the moment there isn't anything to confirm or deny."
The original story came when a source told the Sunday Mirror: “All four members have agreed that next year is the right time to have one final hurrah and put on the gig of their lives. It's a case of now or never, and obviously Glastonbury is the most important festival on the circuit. Everybody's incredibly excited... it's a final bow."
Meanwhile, Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has revealed that he asked Adele to headline the festival when it returns from a year off in 2013.
