Madonna has again hit out at junior pop rival Lady Gaga, saying she is glad she helped the singer to write a hit single which shares an uncanny resemblance to one of her own.
Since the track premiered in 2011, the song has been compared with Madonna's 1989 hit 'Express Yourself'. Madonna has made numerous digs at Gaga over recent months, and has cheekily worked a mash-up of the two songs into her current MDNA tour. Now, in an interview in Brazil, Madonna claims she wrote the song.
"I’m a really big fan of ‘Born This Way’," says Madonna. "I’m glad that I helped Gaga write it."
The comment was seen in a YouTube clip, which has now been removed. Lady Gaga has yet to respond publicly to any of Madonna's insults, but made comments during a June performance in Auckland about those who criticised her work.
"It sometimes makes people feel better about themselves to put other people down or make fun of them or maybe make mockery of their work," she said during her Born This Way ball. "And that doesn't make me feel good at all. That just makes me feel like I'm not being a good human being."
