Movie director Tony Scott's apparent suicide has stunned the people of Hollywood, and countless others around the world. The British film-maker and brother to Ridley directed such classics as Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop II and True Romance.

He was most well known for his huge catalogue of thrillers, and we all know, as did Tony, you can't make a great thriller without a great soundtrack.

So, in honour of the great director, we've put together a list of the best songs used on the various soundtracks on his many fantastic films. Scroll down to listen to the best music of Tony Scott films...

Top Gun: The film that launched the career of Tom Cruise. It's mainly remembered for its uber-80's feel and the repeatedly homo-erotic bro-downs throughout the film, but it's also famous for its soundtrack. Kenny Loggin's 'Danger Zone' and 'Playing with the Boys' are eternal classics, The Righteous Brothers' 'You've Lost That Loving Feeling' accompanies one of the most famous scenes in cinema, and the 'Top Gun Anthem' has had men in aviators air-guitaring for the last 30 years. Amazing.

Beverly Hill Cop II: The second in the hilarious series that thrust Eddie Murphy into international stardom made use of one of the cheesiest and therefore most fantastic soundtracks of the 1980's. George Michael's 'I Want Your Sex' is just one of the many, many laughably brilliant tracks.

True Romance: Hands down, one of our favourite films of all time. Featuring incredible performances from Christian Slater, Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken and Gary Oldman, the Tarantino written sreenplay is accompanied by a near perfect soundtrack. The Shirelles' 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow' sits alongide Billy Idol's 'White Wedding', but the real gem is Hans Zimmer's 'You're so Cool'; which was written for the film.

Domino: Keira Knightley stars as a member of Mickey Rourke's crack team of bounty hunters. It's all guns, explosions, sex, guns, money and guns. The soundtrack marries hip hop with old-school soul, and even a little Josh Homme rock 'n roll; what more do you need?

Days of Thunder: Scott's 1990 NASCAR epic fetures Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in the first of their three films together. It wasn't as successful as Top Gun, but the soundtrack was still great. Be it Maria Mckee's power-ballad 'Show Me Heaven', Guns N' Roses' version of 'Knocking on Heaven's door' or Terry Reid's version of 'Gimme Some Lovin'. It's super-corny, and it's super good.

The Last Boy Scout: "Danger's my middle name." "Mine's Cornelius. You tell anybody, I'll kill you." Tony Scott's 1991 action comedy sees a young Bruce Willis team up with Damon Wayans to solve a murder case centred around pro American football and politics. Yeah sure Prince's 'Get Off' is good, but it's the inclusion of Fleetwood Mac's 'Tusk' that makes this soundtrack great.

The Taking of Pelham 123: Scott's 2009 remake opens with Jay Z's '99 Problems'. One of the best movie-intro tracks ever? We think so.
