‘Strong rumours’ were circulating around the internet yesterday about iconic 80s band The Smiths reforming; however Johnny Marr’s manager has today flatly denied any truth to these rumours.
The iconic guitarist’s manager Joe Moss told NME "It isn't happening. We are fully focused on preparing Johnny's new album for release and booking shows for 2013."
Yesterday "several credible sources” were claiming that The Smiths would reform for four gigs next summer, including a performance at Glastonbury. Rumours were further fuelled with Morrissey telling the Australian Herald “Interestingly the agents for Coachella offered a 100% vegetarian event if I would agree to headline with Johnny Marr as the Smiths.”
Today though, those rumours have been well and truly quashed and it just looks like we will have to wait until next year for the same credible sources to pop up again.
