Status Quo are set to rock all over the world once again (well the UK at least), with the original members reuniting for a short tour in 2013. Ticket details below.
Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan are all set to slip back into their stonewashed denim and head out across the UK next year - the first time the band have played together in 30 years. Lancaster and Coghlan quit the band in the early eighties while Rossi and Parfitt carried on the band's name.
The band's manager has spoken of his excitement at the dates, saying fans have been waiting for years for the four to get back together.
"People have wanted this announcement to be made for years, and here it is," says Simon Porter, reports Sky News. "This is a real moment in the chequered history of Status Quo and it comes after almost 30 years of acrimony, and 10 years of lawsuits and court battles.
"Just two years ago the thought of the Frantic Four performing again was unthinkable.
"Now, 50 years on from when Francis and Alan first performed together as schoolboys, it is fitting that everything has come full circle for these unique one-off shows."
An early Top Of The Pops performance by Status Quo
Rick Parfitt of Status Quo recently revealed shocking details of the band's suspicions of Jimmy Savile's sex abuse at the BBC's Top Of The Pops studios.
Parfitt told The Telegraph: "A lot of us, like everybody else, we all kind of knew. We were all kind of suspicious of Jimmy Saville. We all felt, 'There’s something not right there.
"But we didn’t know what, and it was kind of in the back of our minds. But you could never quite suss him out. We did so many Top of the Pops, so many Jim’ll Fix Its."
He went on to say that he never actually witnessed Savile doing anything untoward, but spoke of how the presenters of the show would always have different dressing rooms to the artists.
Status Quo will perform shows in Glasgow, Manchester, Wolverhampton and London in March 2013. Tickets go on sale 16 November 2012. For more information visit Gigwise Gig Tickets.
